Here at R.Riveter, it’s no surprise that we’ve claimed Rosie the Riveter Day as one of our favorite holidays. Every March 21st, we celebrate our namesake and what she represents — pride, honor, and commitment.
And this year is no different. To celebrate, we’re launching a new collection inspired by Rosie’s iconic denim jumpsuit and red scarf. The new accessories feature dark-wash, 100% cotton premium denim made in the USA at Vidalia Mills.
As a nod to Rosie’s hair scarf — as featured in the widely recognized Rosie the Riveter “We Can Do It” painting by J. Howard Miller — our new Denim handbags include a red and white chiffon bandana jauntily tied to one strap.
The Otto is arguably R.Riveter’s most popular and iconic handbag. With an adjustable crossbody strap and functional handles, the Otto is an incredible bag for any occasion. Wear it on your shoulder with a shortened strap, carry it by the handles, or sling it across your body as a hands-free crossbody bag!
Each R.Riveter handbag takes a journey across the country before arriving at your doorstep. Components are crafted by independent military spouses in their homes around the nation, and shipped to R.Riveter's FabShop to be assembled into a one-of-a-kind product.

Inspiration Behind the Name
The Otto was named after one of the original Rosie the Riveter’s, Mrs. Elinor Otto. When WWII began and men were pulled away from their jobs to serve their country, Mrs. Otto was one of the nearly 6 million women who went to work to keep the country moving forward. She worked until 2014 when she retired from Boeing, where she was responsible for working on every single C-17 plane that went through the plant.
The Otto is a special handbag. Not only does it pay homage to an incredible woman who helped pave the way for 21st century working women, it also empowers military spouses today. Each part and piece of the Otto is handcrafted by military spouses across the country, allowing them to earn flexible, mobile income in a transient life with their soldier.
Maintenance of R. Riveter Leather:
We love using real veg tanned leather in our handbags because they just better with age. If you happen to get scratches or water marks, you can usually get the bag looking new again with just a little maintenance.
Denim Care and Indigo Disclaimer:
Due to the natural characteristics of this fabric, the coloring may rub off on light colored fabrics and upholstery (similar to a new pair of denim jeans). Care should be taken when wearing with light colored clothing. General wear and use will fade the color and gain its unique appearance. Because of the unique properties of denim, please use a specialist for professional cleaning.
